Career & Technology Education

The purpose of our Career and Technology Education (CTE) Department is to empower and prepare our students with the practical skills, knowledge, and real-world experiences necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving job market and contribute to the well-being of our rural community. We are committed to fostering a dynamic learning environment that combines academic excellence with hands-on, industry-relevant training, enabling our students to explore diverse career pathways, discover their passions, and emerge as competent, confident, and resourceful individuals.

Our CTE Department strives to:

  1. Provide a comprehensive and responsive CTE curriculum that aligns with local economic needs, state standards, and global industry trends.

  2. Offer a range of specialized programs, spanning various industries such as healthcare, engineering, business, information technology, and more, giving our students a wide array of options to choose from.

  3. Foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment where all students feel supported, inspired, and encouraged to explore their interests and passions.

  4. Collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and mentors to facilitate internships, job shadowing, and other hands-on experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

  5. Instill essential life skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication, which are valuable assets for success in both career and personal life.

  6. Promote digital literacy, adaptability, and a growth mindset, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the rapidly changing landscape of technology and innovation.

  7. Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, nurturing students' ability to create, lead, and contribute to economic development within our community.

  8. Measure our success through both short-term and long-term outcomes, including student achievement, successful career placements, and the enduring impact our graduates have on the local workforce and community.

In alignment with our high school's mission and values, the Career and Technology Education Department at RLOA is dedicated to providing an educational experience that equips our students with the skills, confidence, and determination to chart their own pathways toward a prosperous future, uplift their families, and enrich our community. Together, we build a brighter tomorrow through education, opportunity, and empowerment.

The purpose of our CTE Department's Local Advisory Committee is to foster meaningful collaboration and dialogue between educators, students, and industry professionals within our local community. This committee serves as a vital bridge connecting our educational programs with the evolving needs and expectations of the workforce.

Through ongoing collaboration, the Local Advisory Committee aims to support the aspirations of our students, enhance the quality of our CTE programs, and contribute to the prosperity and development of our local workforce and economy.
