High School English Language Arts Teacher

Teacher's Desk

I am a Linguistics and Literature graduate of The University of Nairobi, Kenya. I was born and raised in Mombasa - an idyllic, tropical, Indian Ocean Island on the East African coast. I am a native speaker of both Kiswahili, and Kichonyi, and come from the Mijikenda ethnic community of the Kenyan coast; one of the 45 Kenyan ethnic communities.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my 25-year-long career as an international educator in Africa, Europe, and here in the US. I taught English Language and Literature in both government and private schools in Kenya for a total of thirteen years, after which I relocated to the US on a teacher exchange program. I then moved to the Netherlands where I taught for two years before joining Royal Live Oaks Academy seven years ago. I am well-versed in the Kenyan high school English, and the British London G.C.E, and I.G.C.S.E curricula. Over the years I have gained invaluable experience teaching English in Africa, the US, and Europe, and have been fortunate to have the rare opportunity to embrace the best practices in education systems across three continents.

It has been a most rewarding and fulfilling experience to impart knowledge to young people of different races, background, and creed, and watch them blossom into productive 21st-century global citizens; one that I would not trade for anything else in the world!
