About The Board

Lyn Boyles, Chair, is a Jasper County native and Executive Director of the Jasper Conservation District and Keep Jasper Beautiful non-profit organizations. She holds a B.S. in Business Management/Marketing. She has worked closely with all schools in Jasper County for the past 5 years and was awarded the Business Education Partner of the Year in 2018 by the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce for her efforts in teaching natural resources, litter management and wildlife management. She is involved in Holy Trinity Church, Daughters of the King, Jasper County Chamber, Palmetto Pride, Keep South Carolina Beautiful, Quality Deer Management Association, SC Wildlife Federation, and is a mentor for several non-profit organizations in Jasper County. Karla Carrion is a parent of two Royal Knights. She was born in Lima, Peru and has been in SC with her family for a dozen years. Mrs. Carrion believes it is important for parents to have an active role in their children's education and seeks to contribute to RLOA's academic excellence. Contact: [email protected].
Leslie Hunter has been an educator in South Carolina for 25 years. She began her
teaching career in Berkeley County teaching fourth grade and then moving to middle
school. After moving to Bluffton, she taught for two years in Jasper County, again
teaching fourth grade and one year in middle school. Most of her teaching career took
place at Cross Schools in Bluffton, where she taught second grade for 16 years.
Currently, Ms. Hunter is a homeschool teacher for other families in Jasper County.
She truly believes every child deserves the best education possible.
Solid communication and teamwork between parents, teachers, and administration
is key toa child's academic success.

Harry (Rob) McBrayer is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who owns a very active veterinary practice in Ridgeland. He is an advocate for improving education in Jasper County and project-based learning. Dr. McBrayer is involved in Jasper County politics and a strong believer in children understanding the importance of The Constitution and how our government works. Joan Rountree, Secretary, has been an educator for 32 years with a Masters degree in Education. She retired in 2008. She taught her first nine years at Ridgeland Elementary school and finished her career at Shell point Elementary in Beaufort. During her teaching career, she was a classroom teacher, teaching grades one through four, she taught a writing lab for grades two through five, and was a literacy coach for grades one through five. She received the honor of representing Shell Point Elementary as Teacher of the Year in 1999. Contact: [email protected].

Marva Tigner, Vice Chair, is a Jasper County native with 40 years of experience as an educator. She hold a ED.s. in Educational Leadership. She has served as a teacher, administrator and adjunct professor for College of Charleston and Converse University. She is currently a member of the Board of South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education and facilitator of the South Carolina Department of Education programs for the Gifted. Ms. Tigner serves as a Program Coordinator for the Jasper County Arts Council and a volunteer consultant for the Legacy Foundation of South Carolina. Contact: [email protected].
